Individual counselling is a partnership between the therapist and the client. It is a supportive environment to explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours in life events. The goal is to help you feel positive and in control of your thoughts and feelings, instead of them controlling you.
Counselling is a place to resolve problems, learn new skills and gain greater understanding. A therapist is a neutral person who can help you gain new perspectives, support you in making big changes or decisions, and teach you new skills for coping and behaving differently where warranted. You choose what we work on and I work with you to get what you need.
It’s common to wonder how you will be judged for seeking help but the reality is, it takes true courage to ask for help. It’s really more a badge of honour that you stood up and asked for more from life. If that badge isn’t your style, our sessions are 100% confidential, to the point that if we happen to bump into one another in a store, I will not show recognition (until you do, then we’re just friends bumping into each other, should anyone ask me). Your confidentiality is of the utmost importance. The truth is, if you don’t want anyone to know, they won’t, and if you want to limit who you tell, the power is yours to decide.
I seek to create a safe space where you can just be you and explore what that’s like. For you to explore what’s working well and what you want to change, and for us to create the coping strategies that work well for you, in your life. My goal is to help you remove the barriers to your success.
